Obituary of Florence Lorraine Branter

On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, Lorraine Branter of Calgary, AB, went home to be with her lord and saviour at the age of 95 years.

She now goes to join her parents, Robert and Stella Branter; her sister Nora Branter, her brother James Gordon Branter, as well as her nephews, John and Howard Marshall; and her niece Elaine Smith.

Lorraine, affectionately known as ‘Rainie’ to her family, will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, Sandy Vinish (Lewis), Colleen Freundal, Doug Marshall, Sharon Johnston and Donald Branter; as well as many great-nephews and great-nieces.

Lorraine was born and educated in Calgary, AB. She attended Western Canada High School, Garbutt Business College and was employed by Alberta Treasury Branches for many years. Lorraine enjoyed painting and was a life member of the Calgary Sketch Club. Over the years, much of her time was devoted to church organizations and activities, as well as her beloved pets. She was a choir member, board member, Sunday School teacher and CGIT leader.

Over the years, Lorraine has derived much enjoyment from sketching and painting, and spending time with her beloved pets. She was always grateful for the wonderful friends in her life and the joy they have contributed. She was grateful to God for her many blessings. Her memory, keen sense of humour and kindness remained until the very end and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
