Thomas Martin Crickett, known affectionately as Martin, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, in Calgary, AB, Canada, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 8, 1942, in Glasgow, Scotland, and lived a life filled with adventure, passion, and a steadfast commitment to those he held dear.

 

At the young age of eighteen, Martin embarked on a bold journey, leaving behind his homeland to seek new opportunities. His journey led him first to the United States of America and eventually to Canada, where he would lay down roots and build a rich tapestry of experiences.

 

Martin was a man of many talents and interests. An avid soccer player, he graced the fields with his skill and passion, competing at a high level in various leagues. Later in life, he discovered a love for golf, spending many hours on the green, enjoying the camaraderie and challenge of the sport.

 

Martin was known for his remarkable ability to connect with others, effortlessly striking up conversations and making everyone feel at ease in his presence. With a twinkle in his eye and a warm smile, he had a knack for sharing stories of shared experiences or his adventures, which never failed to bring a smile to the faces of those around him. Whether regaling listeners with tales of his past escapades or simply offering a sympathetic ear, Martin's genuine interest in people and his genuine warmth endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him, forging deep and lasting friendships wherever he went. He was a fiercely loyal friend and was a steadfast companion to those fortunate enough to know him.

 

Martin leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda; son, Tommy; daughter, Jennifer; four grandchildren Quinn, Tyler, Xander, and Hailey; and a host of family and friends who will forever cherish his presence in their lives.

 

Martin's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, a testament to a well-lived life and a profoundly cherished soul.

 

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

 

A Celebration of Martin's Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
