Obituary of Anneliese Gademer
February 7, 1938 - Brandenburg, Germany
February 18, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta
In loving memory of Anneliese “Ann” Gademer who passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the age of 86 years.
Born in Brandenburg, Germany, Ann spent her youth living in Western Germany after escaping Eastern occupation. She married Roger and had two daughters, immigrating to Canada in 1970 with nothing more than two suitcases and two crates of some basic belongings. After years of hard work in Germany, the work continued for her in Canada for the next 45 years; as a wife, mother, grandmother, and housekeeper, often working six days a week out of the home, but still managing to find time to do her needlecrafts and volunteer at the community center. She took great pride in maintaining her home and her cooking skills were tough to beat. Once she put all the hard work behind her, she took up volunteering at the Salvation Army which she enjoyed very much. She also took up bowling, loved watching curling, and got a dog, Lucky, with whom she trekked many miles each and every day come rain or shine.
She leaves behind her two daughters, Manuela and Joelle (Michael); grandchildren, Danielle (Mike), Emilie (Jeremy), Helen (Bryan), and Joseph (Melissa); and her great-grandchildren, Callum and Isla. She also leaves behind her brother Hans, and sister Brigitte in Germany, and various other family members in France and Germany.
