Obituary of Edna Marie Stack

Edna Stack of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024.

Edna Ruecker was born on a farm outside the town of Lemberg, SK. She attended the one-room Rosewood School where her love of sports began. 

Edna married Edward Stack and they lived in Yellow Grass before settling in Calgary where they raised Denise and Leanne (Lee). She worked for the Calgary Board of Education from 1973 till her retirement in 2014.

Edna was a loyal fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders football and Calgary Flames hockey teams.  She enjoyed watching most sports on TV, especially golf and curling, while sipping her favorite scotch. She enjoyed gardening and will be most remembered for her beautiful orchids and violets.

Edna is survived by her daughters, Denise Meloche and Lee (Rudy) Sudrich; grandsons, Marc Meloche and Daniel Meloché, and Rudy Sudrich Jr. Edna is also survived by her sister Dorothea Baber of Regina, SK, sister-in-law Lil Hauser of Winnipeg, MB, brother-in-law Len Gessner of Whitewood, SK, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, coffee buddies and friends.

Edna was predeceased by her husband Ed, brother Alfred Ruecker, sisters, Ella Gessner and Joan Polton; and parents, George and Mary Ruecker.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
