Obituary of John Vestering

October 31, 1935 – Wormer, Holland

February 19, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta  

John Vestering of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the age of 88 years.

John was born Johannas Jacobus Vestering in 1935 in Wormer, Holland. He was one of six children born to John and Adrianna Vestering. John immigrated to Canada in 1954 and married his love, Maria, in 1956. He worked with Volkswagen for eight years before moving to Carbon Corner and raising his family. After retiring, he moved back to Calgary where he enjoyed participating in a couple of choirs, loved traveling, and spending time with family.

He is survived by his two daughters, Anna (Wayne) and Diana (Randy); three siblings, Jenny (Joe), Hank (Martha), and Trudy; and his five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Maria, son John, parents, John and Adrianna, and two sisters, Afra and Willy.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.

Graveside Services will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 – 4 Street NW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
