Obituary of Leonard Eugene Kwasnicki

December 12, 1935 – Scout Lake, Saskatchewan

February 20, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Leonard Kwasnicki, beloved husband of Beverley Kwasnicki (nee Monteith), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the age of 88 years.

Leonard was born in Scout Lake, SK to Adam and Adolphena (Phena) Kwasnicki, moving to Calgary at the age of fifteen.  He and Bev met some years later and married on July 19, 1958.  They became parents to Greg, Lee-Anne, and Dean, and had a long and loving marriage.

Len owned the OK Tire store on Macleod Trail in Calgary, which he ran diligently and successfully until he retired at a happy young age of 47.  OK Tire became a mainstay for the family and both Greg and Dean had careers within the business.

When the family was all at home, Len and Bev took them camping and dirt biking almost every second weekend.  They spent much time up in Radium, BC, where they owned a condo on the Radium Golf Course. Len enjoyed golfing in the summer and curling in the winter; he was a long-time member of both the Canyon Meadows Golf Club and Calgary Curling Club.  Len will always be remembered for his love for his family, his great sense of humour, and his love of cards, Poker especially.

Len is survived by his son Greg (Diane) Kwasnicki, of Chilliwack, BC, daughter Lee-Anne (Rick) Thornton of Ft. Saskatchewan, AB, Pam (Ivan Ivicevic) Kwasnicki of Crossfield, AB, grandchildren, Reid, Blake, Brandon (Lori), Shannon (Rob), Abby, Laine, and Dylan; great-grandsons, Elijah, and Sammy; close friend Fay Clark, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Len was predeceased by his wife, Bev Kwasnicki, his son Dean Kwasnicki, his sisters, June Bachman and Gail Matthews, and his parents. 

Funeral Mass for Len and Bev will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall at the Church.
