Obituary of Rosa Rino
May 5, 1941 – Serra, St. Bruno, Italy
February 22, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandma, GG, sister, and aunt. At the age of 16, Rosa immigrated with her family to Fernie, BC, from Italy, where she met the love of her life, Joseph Rino. They married and moved to Calgary with their two children, Maria and Antonio. Rosa worked all her life and made many lifelong friends, especially those from the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
The most important thing in Rosa’s life was her family. Rosa is survived by her daughter Maria Gagliardi (Dominic), son Antonio Rino (Pina), grandchildren, Peter Gagliardi (Rachael), Anthony Gagliardi (Antonella), Joseph Rino (Diana), and Rosa Rino; great-grandchildren, Lorenzo, Verona, Domenico, Sergio, Carmelo, Rocco, and Gemma all of Calgary, AB; her siblings, Joe, Lena, Palma, Assunta, Bruno, Julio, and Sam; and a large extended family in Canada, the U.S., and Italy. Rosa was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph, parents, Giovanni and Innocenza Catroppa; siblings, Nazzareno, Carmen, Cosmo, and Maria; and numerous family members.
Special thanks to all the angels at Agapé Hospice for taking care of Mom in her final weeks.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Community (800 – 85th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 12:00 p.m.
Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Rosa’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service.
