January 21, 1934 - February 23, 2024

Isidoro Jaliff, beloved husband of Liliana Jaliff, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the age of 90 years, shortly after celebrating his birthday.

Isi, as he was affectionately known, was born on January 21, 1934, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Upon arriving in Canada, and after meeting his wife, Isi embarked on a new business venture that included importing textiles and fine merino wool sweaters from Argentina. However, the majority of Isi’s work in Canada was dedicated to the family alterations business, where he enjoyed working alongside his wife and conversing with the many customers they served.

Outside of the long hours spent in their shop, Isi and Lil enjoyed camping, visiting the mountains, and vacationing in British Columbia, especially in Penticton and Victoria. Isi’s last trips to Argentina and Italy were among his most memorable vacations. Isi loved to cook. He was well known for his amazing asados which were thoroughly enjoyed by family and friends, with many of them taking place in Fish Creek Park and Bow Valley Campground. In addition to his outdoor adventures, Isi had a love of the fine arts with admiration for opera and classical music. He was an avid reader throughout his life and enjoyed writing as a hobby. His beloved cat Mishka became the “narrator” of many of his tales.

Isi will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, his children, Daniel, and Ruth (Ariel); his wife’s children, Patrizia, Massimo (Melinda), and Lucia (Mike); his adoring grandchildren, Josie, Adrien, Tamara, and Ethan, who all held a special place in his heart; and by his family and friends in Canada and abroad.

His gentle, kind, and jovial nature and his amazing storytelling will be missed by all.

Interment will take place at Rocky View Garden of Peace on Thursday, February 29, 2024, followed by a private family service.
