It is with great sadness we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Beulah Sawyer (nee Barreth), of Calgary, AB. She passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the age of 88 years.

She is survived by her husband Garry Sawyer, her brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Laura Barreth; sisters-in-law, Delores Achen and Margaret Sawyer; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Ralph Deimert; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Audrey Barreth; brothers-in-law, Darwin Sawyer and Lyle Achen; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Verlyn and Richard Cash.

Beulah was born in Macoun, SK on January 7, 1936, to Alex and Maggie Barreth. She began her schooling in a country school and moved to a school in Macoun in grade three and graduated grade twelve there. Beulah then went on to work in the banking industry in Estevan and Calgary.

Beulah married Garry on October 2, 1957, and they just celebrated 66 wonderful years of marriage. They lived in Edmonton for two and half years then made the decision to move to Calgary to cheer on their favourite teams, the Flames and Stampeders!

They made many trips to the US and enjoyed many gospel quartet concerts. They enjoyed travelling in their motorhome and later became snowbirds for a few years and finally retired in their condo where they live today.

The Family wishes to thank the staff of unit 66 at the Calgary South Health Campus, for the wonderful care they gave Beulah and a special thanks to Dr. Cotton.

Memorial Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Sawyer’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
