Obituary of Veronica Alice Ulicki

April 16, 1974 – Winnipeg, Manitoba

February 24, 2024 – Toronto, Ontario

Veronica Alice Ulicki of Toronto, ON, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the age of 49 years.

She was the beloved daughter of Stephanie and Lawrence Ulicki, and the beloved sister of Maria, Angela, Baby Angel (predeceased in 1976), Suzanne Irving, Joseph, Teresa (predeceased in 2001), Paul, and Andrew (religious name Br. Paul).

Veronica was born in Winnipeg, MB, on April 16, 1974. Throughout her life, she called various places home, among them being South Africa, Calgary, Lethbridge, Montreal, and Toronto. Veronica graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Kinesiology, from the University of Lethbridge in 2003, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a specialization in Theatre Performance, from Concordia University in 2007.

Veronica was a beautiful and considerate person, with a very loving, gentle, and playful nature. She had a kind heart, always treated people with respect, and was one of the most empathetic persons you would ever meet. Veronica always saw the best in people. She was true — a very loyal and faithful friend.

The most important thing to her was how you treat people and that you tried. It is in the trying — even if it doesn't turn out like you hoped, at least you tried, you gave something a chance. She followed this loving advice and was also grateful for, and loved dearly, her mom. As well, she was always thankful and loved her dad for trusting her with responsibilities at a very early age in childhood and being able to go with him to South Africa to run errands and such; with this, she felt very special.

Veronica was always very grateful to her mom and dad, admiring how they always kept going, staying together no matter what, and said the greatest gift they gave us was teaching us about the Catholic Church, to pray and to look, and speak, to Jesus. She always tried to stay positive and to keep going, saying “Look to Jesus, Mary, and St. Jude.”

Veronica was a city girl at heart, always accepting of different types of people, and was most recently living with her sister and bestest pal, Angie, in downtown Toronto. Their dream was for the two of them to open a business together.

She was creative, a true artist, and knew the real meaning behind being of service to others. Veronica loved all sorts of animals, flowers, and baking (her favourites being bread and chocolate cake). She loved the sunrise and was always up early to see it, as "East" light was her favourite. Veronica commented that she had the great opportunity to see a humongous moon in Albany, NY. It was so big that she said that you could almost touch it. One day, she was going to show it to her sister Angie.

In addition to her mom and dad, brothers and sisters, Veronica has many family and friends in Canada and the USA who will always love her, including grandma Alice, grandpa Rudy (predeceased), her grandparents Dmytro and Paraskevia Ulicki (predeceased); her many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins; Steve, Raymond, Zoe, Liam, and Adam Irving, Rob Tremblay; and the many kind people she befriended in Toronto.

Veronica had a wonderful smile and loved hugs. Veronie, your family and friends send you the biggest and warmest of hugs. We love you always and forever.

A Private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Catholic Church (Calgary, AB). Graveside service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery (Calgary, AB).
