Obituary of Clyde Moore
November 12, 1941 - Toronto, Ontario
February 25, 2024 - Airdrie, Alberta
Leslie Clyde Moore, of Airdrie, AB, beloved father of three children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the age of 82 years.
Leslie was born in Toronto, ON, on November 12, 1941.
Clyde was raised in the Weston community of Toronto, ON, where he attended high school. It was during his youthful years at St. Timothy by the Humber Anglican Church that he met Donna Rammage. They spent a few years dating, and on September 11, 1965, they married. Over the next 57 years together, they raised three children and visited all the provinces from coast to coast, residing in four of these provinces. Then, in 1983, they moved the family to Calgary, AB.
Over his lifetime, Clyde was very involved with the Anglican Church in various positions. Although he held strong Christian beliefs, his calling was in teaching industrial education in the public school system. He started his teaching career in a Trade to Teacher Program sponsored by the Ontario Government. He attended night school and summer classes at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto, ON, and graduated in 1976. Over the next 41 years, he taught in Dunnville and Brampton, ON, Wabash, NL, Fort McMurray, AB, and Calgary, AB. His classes changed and evolved with the times and always kept students’ interest, be it simple electrical circuits, ceramics, bicycle repair, CO2 car races, or silk screening; even introducing computer programming in the early 1980s. His antics were renowned. He enjoyed being the center of attention, even if it embarrassed his family, but his students found enjoyment in his creative teacher-to-student methods!
Clyde is survived by his three children and their spouses, Carl and Loreen Moore of Stephen City, Virginia, USA, Randy and Nikki Moore of Tiptree, Essex, England, and Cindee and Dan Scarrott of Red Deer, AB; five grandchildren, Kayla Willams and her husband Brandon Williams of Lynchburg, Virginia, USA, Aidan, Callum and Ewan Moore of Tiptree, Essex, England, and Caitlin Scarrott of Red Deer, AB; two great-grandchildren, Sorin, and Gideon Williams of Lynchburg, Virginia, USA.
Clyde is also survived by his brother Brian Moore and companion Cara, and sister Glenda Moore; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Clyde was predeceased by his loving wife and our Mother Donna, and his parents Leslie and Ethel (nee Preston Bresneham) Moore.
