Obituary of Kelly Korrinne Starr

January 19, 1962 – Cranbrook, British Columbia

February 25, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kelly Korrinne Starr (nee Erickson), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, on the afternoon of Sunday, February 25, 2024. Surrounded by her loved ones, Kelly left us at the age of 62, after battling complications of pneumonia.

Born on January 19, 1962, in Cranbrook, BC, Kelly's spirit and zest for life followed her as she made Calgary, AB, her home for the majority of her life. She was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her.

Kelly is lovingly remembered by her husband Calvin Starr, children, Brad Esselmont, Kristen (Oliver) Brown, and Mechele Esselmont; and her cherished grandchildren, Damian McColl, Hudson, Charlotte, Bennett Brown, Angel, Noelle, and Gemma Esselmont.

Kelly was predeceased by her father Thomas Bateman, but her legacy will continue to be celebrated by her mother Carole Bateman, her siblings, nieces, and extended family, who will miss her deeply.

Professionally, Kelly dedicated most of her career to accounting, specializing in accounts payable. She was known for her unparalleled record of collections, a testament to her hard work, dedication, and ability to foster relationships with colleagues and tenants alike. Kelly's professional achievements were only surpassed by her passion for life and the love she shared with those around her.

As an avid gardener, Kelly's talent for cultivating breathtaking gardens was admired by all who had the pleasure of experiencing them. Her gardens were a true reflection of her love for beauty and nature. Kelly also had a profound love for music, dancing, and singing, often being the life of the party and encouraging others to join in the fun. A wonderful cook, she delighted her family with the best roast beef dinners and spaghetti, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

In accordance with Kelly's wishes, there will not be a public funeral service. Instead, her family will honor her memory with a private Celebration of Life, sharing stories and memories that capture the essence of the incredible woman she was.

Kelly's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her vibrant spirit and the love she shared will forever be remembered.

Rest in peace, Kelly. You may have left this world, but you will never leave our hearts.
