Obituary of Lorne William Jenks

Lorne Jenks, beloved husband of Evelyn Jenks (nee Kopp), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the age of 87 years.

 

Lorne was born in Cardston, AB, on May 14, 1936. He moved to Calgary in the mid-60s, and later settled in Vernon, BC, in 1980. Recently, Lorne and Evelyn returned to Calgary.

 

Lorne and Evelyn were married in 1972, and they were happily married for 52 years. Lorne dedicated 25 years of his life to serving as a committed employee at Canada Post.

 

Throughout his life, Lorne found fulfillment in the love and companionship of his family. He took pride in maintaining a beautiful home, spending countless hours grooming the yard for his loved ones to enjoy. Among his cherished memories was a train trip to Toronto for his 80th birthday to see a Blue Jays game.

 

Lorne will be fondly remembered for his kindness, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to his family.

 

Lorne is survived by his loving wife Evelyn, his daughter and son-in-law, Lorie Jenks and Terry Wityk, of Calgary, AB; daughter Karen Jenks of Surrey, BC, sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Pam Jenks of Canmore, AB, and Eugene and Anick Jenks, of Inuvik, NT; his five grandchildren, Colin Jenks of Calgary, AB, Tessa Jenks, Cooper Jenks, Marlo Jenks, and Winnie Jenks, all residing in Inuvik, NT; and his great-grandchild Aiden Jenks of Calgary, AB. He is also survived by his sisters, Ada and Geneva of Calgary, AB, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

Lorne was predeceased by his first wife, Norma Arlene Heikkila, his parents, Mae Catherine Jenks and Vernon Leonard Jenks; and seven sisters, Verna, Sybil, Leona, Irene, Jenora, Donna, and Ruth.

 

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Rocky View Hospital and SkyPointe Hospice for their dedicated care.
