Obituary of Gerhard Lohse

April 11, 1955 – Hamburg, Germany

February 28, 2024 – Cochrane, Alberta

 

Gerhard Lohse of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the age of 68 years. He was born on April 11, 1955, in Hamburg, Germany.

 

Gerry served as president of the Erin Woods Community Association. He also volunteered with Scouts Canada and was always known for his generous nature in helping others.

 

Gerry attended Algonquin College and studied Electronics. He was a hardworking and skilled Master Electrician for 37 years. Gerry also was a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces. One of his greatest passions was travelling the world, something that he shared with his beloved wife of 45 years, Ute Lohse.

 

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Ute Lohse, their son Karl Lohse (Casandra), and their daughter Christina Foster (David). He was also a cherished Opa to his grandchildren, Erika, Lincoln, Connor, and Myles. He was adored by his mother-in-law Erika Kreutzenstein, and brothers-in-law, Bruce (Cindy) and David (Valerie), and extended families. He was survived by his half-siblings, brother Manfred (Denise), sister Nancy, and their extended families.

 

Gerry was predeceased by his parents, Paula Rick and Horst Lohse, and stepfather Horst Rick; and his father-in-law Heinz Kreutzenstein.
