Condolences
Our condolences to Sue and family.
Jayne and I knew Patty from Sunshine ski club. We were members and then were on the executive with Patty. Jayne and I fondly remember Patty’s smile and knowledge she always brought to the table and especially keeping us all informed through the newsletter. Patty organized a reunion of ski club members, worked ski races as well as many other volunteer duties.
She was a great person on and off the ski hill and will be missed.
Sue and family remain in our prayers.
We have many fine memories of skiing with Patty at Sunshine and working with her through the Sunshine Ski Club. Her bright smile was lasting. I enjoyed our times together with her at the Honens Piano competitions. She was one of a great kind and is truly missed.

We send our sincerest condolences to you and your family. Patty was synonomous with the Sunshine Ski Club. She knew everyone and made everyone welcome.

Dear Sue & Family,
Mark and I send our sincere condolences on the passing of your Mom, Between us, we have many, many stories of our memorable times with her in the Alberta Alpine Race community. Mark will share his own in a separate message. For me, my most memorable is during the 1988 Winter Olympics. Mark and I were both volunteers for all Alpine events at Nakiska. Mark was a Section Chief for Course Crew and I was a Section Chief for Gatejudging. Patty was CHIEF of GATES, a very intense and important position on a race course, especially at the International Olympic level and the only woman (I believe) to hold that position on the ROC (Race Organization Committee.) She was highly trained and experienced as a Race Official and everyone respected and admired her. Even when a situation on the race course got tense (ie: a racer crashes) with the eyes of the world watching on TV, Patty was in the background maintaining her cool, confident leadership style. And who could ever forget her contagious laugh and continual “colgate” smile! She was a remarkable lady through and through who will be greatly missed and certainly deserved to be inducted into the CRSR Hall of Fame. May God rest her dear soul.

In the nineties, as newcomers to Calgary, Alberta our family with our two young kids Chris and Shona, found a supportive community in the Sunshine Ski Club. Patti was the bedrock of the club. She wrote the newsletter, volunteered under all conditions, and hosted club parties. I do remember when the club put on a race at minus 24, I thought we could do anything! I was inspired by Patti’s love of her family and her love of skiing. Patti demonstrated to me how it takes a village to raise kids. Thank you Patti and best wishes to Sue and her family.
