Obituary of WOLFLEG JR.

May 4, 1944 – Siksika Nation, Alberta April 10, 2018 – Strathmore, Alberta Mark Wolfleg Jr., beloved husband of Madeline passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the age of 73 years. Mark was a professional artist known for designing and creating the Siksika Nation’s coat of arms. He was a rancher, farmer, champion fancy dancer, PRCA saddle bronc rider, and a professional musician. Mark was also an accomplished athlete; he was the oldest marathon walker for the Castle Mountain settlement. He walked from Siksika Nation to Ottawa. Mark ran his last marathon two years ago. Besides his loving wife Madeline of forty-nine years, Mark is survived by his children, Mark (Donalda), Becky (James), Nathan (Twyla), Darwin, Jay, Marcia (Al), Chauncey; adopted sons, Troy and Jody; Mark’s baby Izzy; siblings, Allan (Rosaria), Clarence (Fran), Francis, Alvine (Spike), Colleen (Harley), June, Charles (Margie) Watson, Heather John; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mark also leaves behind many relatives of Desjarlais, Pambrun, Little Chief, Low Horn, Many Heads, Wadsworth, Tail Feathers, Backfat, Turning Robe, Stabbed Last, Spring Chief, Three Suns, Eagle Ribs, Dyler, Delaney, Poor Eagle, Hind Bulls, Running Crane, Brave Rock, and Smalls. The family apologizes for anyone we may have missed. Mark was predeceased by his parents Margaret and Mark Wolfleg Sr.; brother Mervin; and sister Darlene. Wake Services will be held at Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbour (Siksika Nation, AB) on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be celebrated at Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbour (Siksika Nation, AB) on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eagle Nest Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB).
