Norman Trapp

Obituary of Norman Rudolph Trapp

April 30, 1931 – Lethbridge, Alberta

March 5, 2024 Calgary, Alberta

Norman “Skip” Trapp, of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the age of 92 years.

Skip was born in Lethbridge to Grace and Herman Trapp. He and his four siblings Lloyd, Lorna, Don, and Dale grew up on a farm east of Barons, Alberta.

Skip attended school in Nobleford, and then Barrhill, before finishing high school at Mount Royal in Calgary. Growing up, Skip was fun-loving and mischievous at times. He loved telling jokes and was always up for a quick adventure with friends. After finishing school, he drove a bus for Rocky Mountain Tours in Banff National Park for three summers and had many great stories to tell of his experiences.

Growing up in a farming family, he was destined to do the same. In 1951 he married his school sweetheart, Lorna Auch. In 1953 they moved to the Bassano area where he broke land and successfully farmed until his retirement.

Farming was hard work and long hours, but Skip still was able to find time to be active in his community and pursue his love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling, and flying airplanes. He was born with an ear for music and only needed to listen to a song to be able to play it on the piano or accordion.

Whenever possible, spending time with his family and giving hugs was important to him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his best friend and wife of 72 years, Lorna; son Lonny (Karen) Trapp of Cochrane AB, and daughter Susan (Don) Lincoln of Calgary, AB; grandchildren Lindsey (Chet) Ingram of Saskatoon, SK, Gina (Fred) Khonje of Saskatoon, SK, Darren Trapp of Golden, BC, Sean Lincoln of Calgary, AB, and Ryan Lincoln (Janel) of Calgary, AB; great-grandchildren, James and Evelyn Ingram, Laura, Tadeyo, and Conrad Khonje; and many other family and friends.

Dad, you will be forever missed and never forgotten. You are now soaring with the angels protecting us from above, sending your warm hugs.

Love You Forever
