On behalf of the University of Lethbridge Library I want to express our condolences to David and to the rest of the Hughes family. David and Shirley have been great supporters of the Library over time and their generosity continues to enrich the experience of students in the Library. Shirley's commitment to education and the community has left a strong legacy and her memory lives with all of us who work here.

I had the privilege of looking after David and Shirley's home in Lethbridge for over 20 years as they embarked on their many travels. Shirley collected magnets from all their travels and they were displayed on the refrigerator. She and David were a formidable force together and David may have thought he was the boss, but I know differently. You were a gentle soul. May you rest in peace.
My Condolences Dave and Family
I was privileged to enjoy Shirley's quiet sense of humour in our golfing days !
Also "Thank You" Dave , how you and Shirley included us in your large group of friends .
May you rest in peace Shirley .

My heartfelt condolences to Dave and family. Shirley was fun to know on the golf course where she didn't take herself or her golf too seriously. My time working with Dave on U of L and St. Augustine projects inevitably brought me into contact with Shirley too. I especially liked her often quiet sense of humour.
My sincere condolences to you my friend David and also to Michael, Brenda, Gail and their families. Shirley was a very special lady and I remember with much fondness how kind she was to me when my Jeffrey died. I know these are sad days for you all. Please know that I am thinking of you all.
