Helen Ludwina Leible of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the age of 100 years.

Helen was born on April 1, 1923, in Macklin, SK. She was the first surviving child of Jacob and Katherine (Deck) Senger. She was raised on the family farm, just west of Unity, SK, with her three brothers and twelve sisters. During this time, she attended Koehmstedt School as a young girl.

Helen married Andrew Leible on November 7, 1944, and together raised ten children. After marriage, Helen and Andrew lived on a farm in Senlac, SK, District, before moving to Unity, SK, then to Drumheller, AB, and later to Magrath, AB. Helen and her family moved to Calgary in 1964 and lived there until her passing. She enjoyed having a large family and left a legacy of twenty-one grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Helen is survived by six sisters, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by one son, James, on March 19, 1977, at the age of 22, as well as six sisters, and three brothers.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. There will be a public visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., prior to the prayers and tributes.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church (7103 – 20A Street S.E., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Garden Cemetery (1605 100 St SE, Calgary, AB).

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Leible’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
