Obituary of Christopher Roy Cannon

July 22, 1968 – Montreal, Quebec

March 17, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Cannon on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at only 55 years. He succumbed to kidney failure and cirrhosis of the liver.

Chris, an only child, was born to his loving parents in Montreal, QC, in 1968. Unfortunately, he lost his father at the age of eighteen.

Chris moved to Calgary, AB, in his early years and grew up in South Calgary, attending Lord Beaverbrook High School. He enjoyed rock music, had a passion for playing guitar and lived life to the fullest with his friends.

After high school, Chris developed a passion for IT work and attended school to become an IT Engineer. He worked for various companies before deciding to create his own business, Cannon Technology.

At the age of 26, he met Helen, his late common-law wife. After a few years together, they moved to Kimberley, BC, and welcomed their beloved son, Desmond. He was a loving boy, full of energy and excitement. Later, they moved back to Calgary, AB, and welcomed their beautiful daughter, Ashley, into their lives.

They spent many happy years together until the tragic loss of Helen in 2015, Desmond in 2018, and his mother in 2018. Despite these devastating losses, Chris and Ashley grew even closer.

In 2021, Chris moved to Nanaimo, BC, where he enjoyed the mountains and the tranquillity of the island.

When Chris fell ill in January 2024, Ashley made several trips to visit him. Eventually, his best friend, Juanita, assisted in bringing Chris back to Calgary, AB, so he could spend his final days closer to his friends and family.

Chris was a devoted father who would do anything for his loved ones. Despite facing numerous challenges and significant losses, he remained strong for himself and his daughter, Ashley.

Chris is survived by his daughter, Ashley, and his beloved English Bulldog, Tia Maria. He was predeceased by his cherished family, son Desmond, common-law wife Helen, and parents, Audrey and Cyrus Cannon.
