Obituary of Trudy Anne Marie Old Woman
October 9, 1976 – Bassano, Alberta
March 18, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Trudy Anne Marie Old Woman at War. She went to be with our Lord on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the age of 47 years. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, niece, auntie, cousin and friend.
Trudy is survived by her children, Elaine, Brendon, J.J., and Jaze; her special ‘one and only’ grandson Easton Tru (Doo-doo), siblings, Gabriella and Terri; adopted father Billy Black, sisters, Nicole, Jill, Melanie (Shane), and Sharrie (Eldon) Yellow Horse; and adopted sisters, Trina Running Rabbit and Girlie (Lambert) Crane Bear.
Trudy will be missed by her uncle and aunts, Gwendora (Robert), Mandel, Arlene, Joelle, and Liz (Alvin); great-aunties, Daisy and Rose; nieces and nephews, Anthony Jr. (AJ), Antanette, Angelica, Janelle, Heaven, Xavier, Unique, Clint, and Christine. She is also survived by the extended families of the McMasters, Billy Black Family, Yellow Horses, Olds, Turning Robes, Water Chiefs, Back Fats, Black Horses, Bear Chiefs, and Calf Childs. We apologize if we have missed anyone.
Trudy resided in Calgary for more than twenty years. She lived her life to the fullest as a single mother who really cherished her Elaine (Baby Girl) and adored her sons and her only precious grandson Easton Tru, whom she did anything and everything for. She spoiled him and couldn’t be away from him for long. Trudy and Elaine were inseparable best friends and they raised Easton together. She also loved and was deeply loved by her family; she would come home to visit from time to time but never stayed long.
Trudy will be missed dearly by her many friends in the Calgary area. She was proud of her street smarts, and she always knew how to get around in Calgary. Trudy will be missed for her sense of humour, and her kind, quiet, and gentle nature, very much like her mother Brenda. She had a beautiful heart, and her famous saying was, “Yaw.” There was never a dull or serious moment with Trudy, she always had something to joke about, no matter the situation. Trudy will be so greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
The family wishes to thank everyone for the outpouring of messages and condolences, finances, food, flowers, and most of all, the prayers. Special thank you to Rockyview Hospital ICU staff, Siksika Outreach Team Marlboro location, Awootaan, Siksika Disability Services, Siksika Public Works, and Siksika Resource Centre.
Trudy was predeceased by her father Gabriel Yellow Horse, mother Brenda Old Woman, brothers, Charles (Chuckie) Yellow Horse and Clint Alexander Old Woman; and sister Gertie Old Woman.
