Obituary of Leslie Walter Pinel

Leslie Walter “Les” Pinel passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Peter Lougheed Hospital. Les was 74 years of age and passed peacefully surrounded by family.

Les was born in Calgary, AB, on April 25, 1949. He was a loving and dedicated brother, father, and grandfather. Les was an avid card shark and enjoyed nothing more than beating friends and family in a game, including online card games, where he would set the computer players names as his kids and ensured to share screenshots of his winnings. He was a young spirit and found true joy in his five grandchildren. He spent countless hours at the hockey rink watching games and practices, chasing toddlers, and offering hours of silent, peaceful snuggles. Les was never one to pass up an epic summer water fight, Calaway Park ride, or family barbeque. He was an extremely kind and gentle man, always willing to help a friend or neighbour.

Les was predeceased by his father Harold, mother Gladys “Pearl”, sister Diane, daughter Kari, ex-wife Phyllis, wife Lindy, and stepson Dave.

Les is survived by his three children and their spouses, Paul (Jenna), Dayna (Darryl), and Robyn (Simon); stepdaughter Chilo (Pete), five grandchildren, Lincoln, Cooper, Piper, Maverick, and George; sister Mary, and brother Roger.

Les will be sorely missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and medical staff of Peter Lougheed hospital who provided compassionate care to Les and his family over the course of his stay.

A Celebration of Les’s Life will be held at a later date, details to be provided to Les’s close family and friends.
