March 20, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

William “Bill” Stark Smith Hall, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta. Born on October 19, 1947, in Glasgow, Scotland. Bill embarked on a life filled with love, adventure, and dedication.

Bill was the loving son of May and Tom Hall, both of whom preceded him in death. Their unconditional love and guidance shaped Bill into the remarkable man he became, instilling in him values of kindness, hard work, and devotion.

At the tender age of two, Bill and his family made the journey from Glasgow to Hamilton, ON, where he would grow up alongside his brothers Tom and John Hall, and his sister June Hall. From an early age, Bill's strong sense of family and loyalty shone through, qualities that would define his entire life.

Bill's greatest joy in life came from his loving wife Karen, whom he married 40 years ago. Their love story spanned an impressive 45 years this month, filled with unwavering support and shared dreams. Together, they built a beautiful family and created countless cherished memories.

As a father, Bill worked tirelessly to nurture and guide his children, Maggie and Cody, to become the best versions of themselves. Whether it was cheering them on from the sidelines at their sports games or encouraging his daughter's artistic talents, Bill's dedication to his children's growth knew no bounds.

His unwavering support and belief in their abilities laid the foundation for their success. Bill's daughter, Maggie, flourished under his guidance, with his encouragement fueling her passion for art. With a paintbrush or crayons in hand, she developed from her childhood into a professional artist, a talent that brought immeasurable pride and joy to Bill's heart.

For over four decades, Bill dedicated his professional life to running his successful waterproofing company in Calgary, AB, aptly named "Sealerman". Known for his exceptional craftsmanship and unwavering commitment to quality, Bill's work left an indelible mark on the community he served.

When he wasn't busy overseeing his business, Bill found solace in his passions. An avid billiards player, he would spend countless hours with his son Cody playing the game, creating a bond that would last a lifetime. Bill's love for billiards extended beyond the table, he could often be found cheering on his favourite teams, the Calgary Flames, the Buffalo Bills, and the Calgary Stampeders with his son.

In his youth, Bill was a skilled boxer, earning the title of Golden Gloves boxer in his mid-20s. His determination, strength, and resilience in the ring were mirrored in his everyday life, demonstrating his unwavering spirit and commitment to overcoming challenges.

Bill was also an active member of the Iron Workers Union Local 97, where he found camaraderie and a sense of belonging among his fellow union members. Their shared dedication to their craft and the community fostered lifelong friendships that meant the world to Bill.

Above all, Bill's love for his family knew no bounds. He adored his children, Maggie and Cody, and was overjoyed to welcome his grandchildren, Stark and Roman, into the world. Bill's love extended to his nieces and nephews, who were like additional children to him, always showering them with affection and support.

William “Bill” Stark Smith Hall will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kind and gentle nature, his unwavering love for his family, and his dedication to his craft will forever be remembered. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, let us carry on his legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those we hold dear.
