Obituary of Donna Louise McKerrell

Donna McKerrell (nee Selock), beloved wife of Don McKerrell, of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the age of 63 years.

She was born on January 22, 1961, and was raised on her parents’ farm. Her love of showing her dogs was evident in the hundreds of ribbons she always had hanging on the walls of her childhood home. Donna married Don in November of 2005, and together they owned a successful commercial design-build company, which she was very proud of.

Donna enjoyed travelling, golfing, road trips, cats, and time spent with friends and family. She could host a giant family dinner with ease, DIY almost any project you could imagine, and her collection of cat socks was unmatched. You could often find her on the golf course, at a dinner theatre, or looking for treasures at one of the many thrift stores she loved to visit. 

In 2008, Donna was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. She had spent the last sixteen years receiving holistic treatments, allowing her to live a healthy and happy life, while doing the things she loved most. Her determination and strength were admired, even in her last days. 

Donna is survived by her loving husband of nineteen years, Don, and the children of their blended family, Graham (Lori) McKerrell, Kristy (Kellen) Pretulac, Brennan (Emma) McKerrell, Devon (Tyler) DeBoer, Dustin DeBoer, and Derek (Morgan) DeBoer. She was adored as Grammie and will be greatly missed by her six grandchildren, Taryn, Mya, Ronin, Brody, Oliver, and Daniel. Donna is also survived by her brother Lance (Kathleen) Selock, and many dear friends.
