Obituary of Teresa Janet Henderson

Teresa Janet Henderson (nee McManus), beloved wife of Jim Henderson, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the age of 74 years.

Teresa grew up in Millet and Wetaskiwin, AB. After high school, she moved to Edmonton, where she worked with Alberta Blue Cross. There she met Jim, whom she married in 1973. They had two boys, David and Keith, and settled in Calgary, AB, in 1990.

She gained her teaching certificate and worked at Father James Whelihan School, keeping an eye on her two boys.

Teresa accomplished much throughout her life and was particularly proud of her family, as well as her work with students with disabilities.

She loved travelling with friends and family, socializing, shopping, and spoiling her grandson, Morris. Memorable trips included Australia and Mexico with the family. After retirement, Teresa and Jim loved going on cruises to see the world and spending winters in California with their friends.

She will be most remembered for her strength, big heart, kindness, sense of humour, and selfless nature.

Besides her loving husband Jim, Teresa is survived by her two sons and one daughter-in-law, David (Naomi), of Vancouver, BC, and Keith, of Calgary, AB; and her one grandchild, Morris, who lit up her life.

Teresa is also survived by her two sisters, Pat Muth (Walter), of Edmonton, AB, Noreen Dyke (Roy), of Maple Ridge, BC, and one sister-in-law, Ruth Stensby, of Calgary, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Teresa was predeceased by her mother Marguerite, father Clifford, and her brother K.C.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Teresa’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.
