Condolences
From Rod & Judy , Riley and Lauren Peterson
With great sadness we heard of Dougs passing. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Jolaine, Tyler, Craig and family members.
Doug was a big part of our families sport lives and we fondly remember skiing at Lake Louise, co-coaching our kids lacrosse and its many road trips, coaching Sundance soccer and many social party nights with our mutual friends.
Doug was a colourful figure especially when it came to sports. He was the most diversified athlete that I have met or heard about!
Forgive me if some of this info is wrong but it is from memory of stories told over a few beers.
We came to find out Doug had a nickname of Maddog Toms and when asked he would give you his unique knowing smile and . chuckle that meant there was a story there. He talked about playing many sports in Vancouver and excelling in several. I believe he played for the Salmon Bellies a legendary Junior Lacrosse team, UBC football team, UBC hockey Team, as well as ski like a Maddog,
I write this with tears in my eyes, with great memories and laughter to remember and a loss in my heart for a great friend.
Regrets that we lost touch over the years. Here's to the great memories Dougie may you rest in peace.
Wishing you peace to bring comfort, the courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart.
With deepest sympathy
Roy & Gloria Stewart (Onda)
My sincere and deepest condolences to Tyler and to the Toms family in this time of grieve . May the soul of your father rest in peace.
Jolaine and family, please accept our sympathy for your loss and also the very difficult journey you took with Doug. We are grateful to have known him and to have provided him with very small pleasures during his stay here on Transition at the Rockyview. His enthusiasm with our very humble woodwork program, our group walks on the pathway and his responses to music I will recall with a smile. I can appreciate the person he was before we at the hospital knew him, too and know that you will all think of those memories with a smile and warm heart. Take care all of you.
RIP Doug. Love and condolences to Jolaine, Tyler, Craig and other family. An inspiring man who lived an athletic life. :(
Jolaine and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and family at this particularly difficult time.
Doug coached our son in hockey and we will remember him as a strong and vibrant coach.
Dear Jolaine and family,
Sending our sincere condolences to you and the family. We have great memories of fun times in Pincher Creek at the Schamber house when you and Doug came to visit.
We are truly sorry for your loss and are thinking of you.
Richard and Janet Richter
