September 25, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta
Bonnie Gaetz of Calgary, AB, passed away on September 25, 2018 at the age of 88 years.
Bonnie Gaetz (nee McCaffrey) passed away peacefully at home in Calgary on September 25, 2018. Don and Kim, Kincaid and Lincoln, her wonderful nurse Jhovitah and Jimmy were there as she winged her way to heaven to be reunited with Dad and all her family. Mom meant the world to us and us to her, but she meant a lot to those on the other side as well, for more than once during the past few months she was heard calling for her sisters Marg, Mary and Leona to wait for her. Mom was an amazing mother to her 6 children, their spouses; Gerry, Anne-Marie, Ray, Karla, Tom, Colleen, Don, Kim, Diane, Ian, Jim, Cynthia; her 14 grandchildren and their spouses; Matthew, and Stacey Gaetz, Stephanie Gaetz, Rob and Kasandra Gaetz, Steven and Tanika Gaetz, Travis Gaetz, Jenna and Mike Gaetz, Carlene Gaetz, Celine Lockie, Adriana Gaetz, Nicole Lockie, Loreena Gaetz, Glenn Lockie, Kincaid Gaetz and Lincoln Gaetz; and 4 great-grandchildren; Aviana Gaetz, Payten Gaetz, Ryker Gaetz, and Pearson Gaetz. Mom looked after quite a few children before and after schools while we grew up. Mom provided safe haven for at least two of her nephews during very rough periods in their lives, both have expressed their appreciation to this day bestowing upon her the title of A GREAT LADY. She was that.
History: Born in Eston SK, grew up in Daysland AB, went to Hendersen Business College in Edmonton AB, worked for the Royal Bank, moved to Calgary and worked for United Grain, became a stay at home Mom, then worked for Fr. John Weisgerber at Canadian Martyrs Church. She retired after 11 years. Mom and Dad then cruised to the Caribbean and north to Alaska. They also travelled different parts of Canada. Mom and Dad were married on June 18, 1955 until Dad’s passing in December of 2014.
Please God, forgive a silent tear,
The constant wish that she was here,
Others are taken, yes, we know,
But she was ours and we miss her so.
