Obituary of Benjamin "Clifford" FULLERTON

August 27, 1934 - Belfast, Northern, Ireland

October 14, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Clifford Fullerton, beloved husband of Orrine (nee Porter) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019 at the age of 85 years.  

Clifford was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on August 27, 1934. He immigrated to Calgary, Canada in 1977.  In Belfast Northern Ireland He served his apprenticeship as an upholsterer and carpet planner  He went on to open a company (B Fullerton & sons) with his father and brothers which stayed in operation for twenty-three years  When he immigrated to Canada He and his Brother Ronald started their own business (Erin Carpets). Clifford married Orrine June 26, 1957. He was a member of the Ulster Sub aqua club, the International Ballroom Dance Association and the Canadian Legion.   He volunteered as a swimming coach for many years, teaching four year olds to seventy year olds. Clifford loved fly fishing and had a passion for singing and playing guitar and piano and International Ballroom dancing, of which is was a teacher, coach and mentor to so many  He was an amateur competitive dancer who turned professional and had his UKA International teaching and judging credentials. Clifford’s most memorable vacation was when he fulfilled his dream to visit Aruba.  He also loved being able to take his grandchildren to his home town in Northern Ireland.

Clifford’s favourite saying was “Your helpfulness is only surpassed by your good looks and charm”. He will be most remembered for his smile and his laugh especially when telling his jokes and he always had one to tell.

Besides his loving wife Orrine, Clifford is survived by his only daughter and his son-in-law, Julie and Hugh of Calgary, AB; his two grandchildren, Shelby and Holden of Calgary, Alberta. Clifford is also survived by his brother Ronald and sisters-in-law Gloria of Calgary, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Clifford was predeceased by his parents Ben and Emily; his brother Gordon.
