Obituary of Jean Margaret Anne WESTWOOD

Jean Westwood passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day Monday, October 14, 2019.

Jean was born in Rapid City, Manitoba and moved to Calgary with her mother and father to the Parkhill area where they lived for many years. Later, "Jeannie" resettled to the Haysboro area down the street from Grant McEwan, one of her great heroes and next door to her adopted family, the Chapmans. Jean was an extraordinary servant of the Lord and for decades worked in the Parkhill Church of Christ located on Mission Road in Calgary, shuttling seniors to and from church, publishing the church bulletin and acting as volunteer secretary.

Her editorial expertise found its home in the pages of the weekly "Reach", assuring all who attended the little church with; "Of course you are welcome!" Jean never let her meager earnings keep her from sharing what she had with others. Her generosity and compassion was evidenced in so many ways, including constant companionship with many shut-ins through her daily telephone calls, sharing her home with visitors during Stampede week, driving deliveries for the Red Cross, and underwriting mortgages for those who could not otherwise qualify for loans from the banks.

Jean is survived by her sister-in-law Ethel Westwood; nieces, Heather Wells and Linda Hales; and nephew Randy Westwood, all of Manitoba, and is lovingly remembered by her adopted family in Alberta who loved Jeannie throughout her adult life.

We rejoice together as we remember the words of our Father in Heaven, to all those who are faithful: "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!" Matthew 25:23

A Celebration of Eternal Life will be held at Oak Park Church of Christ (11263 Oakfield Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the church.
