Obituary of Peter Michael Thomas CYR

February 10, 1970 – Saint John, New Brunswick September 2, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta It is with sadness we announce that Peter Cyr passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Peter hailed from New Brunswick and was especially close with the Roy family and considered Stevie (Tammy) Roy his best friends among others that he also considered extended family and friends. In his younger years Peter loved to play ice hockey and was also an avid golfer spending lots of time on the golf course with his friend Murray Locke. He was also a big fan of the TV show Duck Dynasty and often took it upon himself to try and imitate one of the characters with his full beard. We often referred to him as the bush man and would have a great chuckle over “his look”. Peter loved his cats and had many over the years: Thumper, Squeak, Timba, Buddy, Baby and Bella. He had a great knack for changing the cats name and therefore Baby became Princess, Buddy became Handsome and Bella became Sexy. Pete was rather shy and quiet but once he got a few rye and diet cokes into him was the life of the party. Peter is survived by his wife Norma Jean MacDonald; mom Patricia Bridge; siblings, Leanne, Craig, Neal and Chrissie Cyr; Aunt Margaret Bridge, Aunt Fay and Uncle Art Cyr; grandmother Teresa Cyr; numerous other aunts and uncles, and brothers and sisters-in-law. Pete had many nieces and nephews who will miss him and remember him fondly. Peter was predeceased by his father Joseph Leo Cyr (February 22, 1995); grandmother Winnifred Bridge (1982); grandfather Robert Bridge Sr. (1974); Uncle Robert Bridge Jr. (2000); and mother-in-law Vera MacDonald (August 15, 2014). A Celebration of Peter’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. We would like to thank the staff at the Peter Lougheed Centre who worked extremely hard in order to save his life. These efforts are very much appreciated by family members. In death there is life and with Peter’s donation someone has received a new liver and two people will have a chance at sight. Peter would be extremely happy that he was able to help someone out.
