Obituary of Kathleen ROBERTSON
February, 23, 1919 – Kingston, Surrey, England
September, 7, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta
Kay Robertson passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the age of 95.
Born in Surrey, England on February 23, 1919, Kay met and married Leonard Robertson of Hazlet, SK, while he was stationed in England during the war in 1943. Kay immigrated with her son David in 1945 as a war bride to begin her new life in Saskatchewan. In 1950 Leonard moved the family to Milk River, AB where he worked at the local grain elevator and Kay started working at Archie’s General Store. The family moved to Calgary in 1963 where they would remain. In 1966 Kay began her career with CO-OP and would retire in 1984.
Kay filled her retirement with her many passions, War Bride Reunions, CO-OP ladies lunches, gardening and church gatherings. She was a regular at the Royal Canadian #1 Legion where she has been a member for over twenty years. Where ever Kay went she embraced life, her spirit was infectious. She was able to make anyone laugh even through hard times.
Kay will be sadly missed by all who knew her but especially her surviving family; her sons, David (Ruth) Robertson of Milk River, AB; Paul (Lynne) Robertson of Victoria, BC; and special friend Dawn (Keith) Thompson of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Brad (Connie) Robertson of Milk River, Scott (Lisa) Robertson of Camrose, AB, Stacey Robertson (Jaret Sprott) of Calgary, AB, Chantelle Weedmark of Airdrie, AB, Christina Deen of Victoria, BC; Matthew Thompson (Patrick Moskwa) of Calgary, AB, and Daniel (Nicole) Thompson of Calgary, AB; great-grandchildren, Deagan, Garren & Torra Robertson of Milk River, AB, Denton & Shaye Robertson of Camrose, AB and Owen Thompson of Calgary, AB.
