Obituary of Melyvn Mel Douglas APPLEBEE

It is with great sadness that after a courageous battle with cancer we announce the passing of our Dad, husband, uncle and Poppa Mel Applebee. Mel was born in Montreal and spent his first thirty-seven years there, before moving to Calgary in 1977. He was a firefighter for twelve years, and then ventured into the carpet business with his own store. He found his calling and achieved great success as “Mr. Lincoln” selling cars for years in Calgary. Mel was always the life of the party, his quick wit and sense of humour will be greatly missed. He had a carefree attitude and a great zest for life, family and friends were everything to him. Mel is survived by his wife Marilyn (Grace); his two daughters Tracy (Trent) Gall and Kelly (Dan) Patience; his brothers Bruce (Sandy) and Bill (Donna); his two sisters Bev (Greg) and Judy (Gord); his four grandsons Connor and Blake Patience, Carter and Dawson Gall. A Celebration of Mel’s Life will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Kelly and Dan Patience’s House (354066 20 St West, Okotoks). Please contact McInnis & Holloway for details. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Mel Applebee, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Calgary, AB, T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
