Obituary of Sally Walsh
April 5, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta
On the cool, snowy morning of April 5, 2024, Sally-Jane “Pig” Walsh (nee Brown), surrounded by her loving family, packed her proverbial bags and headed out on her next biggest life adventure.
She had grown tired of the constant queen’s treatment that her sweet, dutiful husband provided day and night for her; she said it was too much for him and her, and she had to leave. “All this fuss over me; I just can’t take it anymore! I can take care of myself out there; you will see!” she said to him with a reassuring smile.
Though she was leaving on her adventure very suddenly, Sally-Jane could squeeze in one last visit with those closest to her; she felt the love and shining light of her husband and daughters as they tearily said their farewells when the time came for her to go. “Forget me not while I’m away,” she told them, to which they all replied she would never be. “You will be with us always, as the music in our hearts and beam of light from the sun to grow our gardens bountiful and green! You have taught us much in life that will keep us safe and happy. Because of you, we see the positive; because of you, we see the light in the dark; we will keep you with us, you always”.
With a final blink, she whisked away to her bright new horizon and life of new adventures. No more fussing or mussing, no more dreaming of the day when the doting over her would fade away; now she is able to sing, dance, and garden freely until the end of time.
Life was never dull for Sally-Jane, filled with a passion for discovering new music, a humorous brilliant mind like no other, and a feisty confident ‘tude’ to match. She would give you a run for your money in any trivia game but could just as easily slip on something and end up in a cast or bandage with nearly no effort at all. There was nothing she couldn’t do, but if you told her she couldn’t, she would hand you her drink and say, “Watch this” and left you picking up your jaw later.
Wherever her adventures go now from here, look to the sky and in music for our dearest Sally-Jane; there you will find her messages of love and strength carrying on. And, if you happened to have misplaced something you know was “just there a minute ago” she may have something to do with it; even in sadness or times of stress she had a humour that kept you on your toes and smiling.
Since Sally-Jane wasn’t keen on anyone making a big deal over her, she also didn’t want those she loves sitting on a pew or chair crying; instead, a daylong gathering of love, music and celebration in her honour will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, in Calgary, AB, to spread her cremated remains. This day of celebration will be shared by anyone who had the privilege to be part of the great life of SJPW.
Please get in touch with any member of the family to be provided with the location to be part of the wonderful Celebration of Life for Sally-Jane “Pig” Walsh.
