Obituary of BIG CROW

( Iyarhe Wǐya – Mountain Woman) March 1, 1970 – Calgary, AB August 30, 2014 – Tsuu T’ina, AB It is with heavy hearts and sudden sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend Cori Lynn Big Crow (Mountain Woman) on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the age of 44 years. Cori survived by her mother Nancy Big Crow, her pride and joy, Austin, Latesha (Dexter), Marissa (Dennis), Karice (Clarissa), Triston and Treyton, grandchildren Tanaizah and Violet; her siblings Shauna, Jarvis (Serena), Raylene (Wacey), Weya (Trav), Jill Bearchief and many traditional brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews that she cherished. Cori will also be missed by her grandfather Russell Big Crow and father Roy Bearchief, many aunties and uncles of the Tsuu T’ina Nation, Siksika Nation, Stoney Nation and her co workers. Cori was predeceased by her husband Clinton Old Woman of Siksika Nation, grandmother May Big Crow, step-father Larry Calf Robe, cousins Blaine Big Crow, Buffy Kaquitts, Eli Big Crow and auntie Lorretta Big Crow. Cori was born and raised on the Tsuu T’ina Nation, Alberta and attended school at Le Roi Daniels School and Fairview School in Calgary and then went to Plains Indian Cultural Survival School (P.I.C.S.S.) from there she went to work with the Tsuu T’ina Nation for a number of years in the Administration office, Chilla Elementary, Jr. / Sr. High School and her present position with Tsuu T’ina finance department. Cori loved her Pow Wow and Round dances and most of all her Jarome Iginla. Cori made her cursillo in 1990 at Siksika Nation, AB and the theme was “Ava Maria”. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her kind and generous spirit and not to forget her beautiful laugh that you could hear a mile away. She was always there when you needed her. Cori had a lot of friends that she cherished and will miss her dearly. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Cori Big Crow Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB on Wednesday September 3, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. and Thursday September 4. Funeral Service will be celebrated at Tsuu T’ina Nation Seven Chiefs Sportplex (3700 Anderson Road S.W.) on Friday, September 5, 2014 at Graveside Service to follow at (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB).
