Obituary of Donalda Dorothy McCutcheon

September 26, 1955 – Kerrobert, Saskatchewan

Donalda McCutcheon, wife of Andy McCutcheon of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the age of 68 years.

Born on September 26, 1955, in Kerrobert, SK, Donalda was a spirited explorer who travelled throughout Canada in her late teens and early twenties. Eventually, she chose Calgary as her home base, where she married Andy in 1979.

Donalda had a deep and abiding love for the stars and the soil, finding meaning and tranquillity in both astrology and gardening. She devoted her life to studying the mysteries of the Cosmos and tending to the earth, embodying the essence of growth and exploration. Her keen insight into the alignment of the stars and the gentle care for her garden were reflections of their belief in connectivity and renewal. Through these passions, she taught us to look above and below to find beauty and wisdom in the cycles of life

Donalda’s favourite poem was “Desiderata”. Always seeking the beauty and truth in life's complexities, Donalda strived to live according to the wisdom of Desiderata. The poem's words served as a beacon, encouraging peace and self-compassion amidst challenges in the world.

Besides her husband Andy, Donalda is survived by three children, Molly (Nick) McCutcheon of Calgary, AB, Laura (Andre) McCutcheon of Burnaby, BC, and Robert McCutcheon of Calgary, AB, her grandson Declan, and by her brothers, Neil and Earl.   

Donalda was predeceased by her sisters, Jeanette and Veronica, and her mother and father, Philomena and Alex McDonald.

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported us during this difficult time.

In respect of Donalda’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
