Obituary of Richard Victor White

February 4, 1957 – Montreal, Quebec

April 15, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Richard White of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the age of 67 years.

Richard was born in Montreal, QC, on February 4, 1957, and from a young age, he excelled in football as a quarterback which led Rick to an opportunity to attend McGill but instead, he chose to go west for a new career. Rick made many football buddies which he is still friends with today.

After meeting the love of his life Gayle, they married in 1991 and proceeded to have two kids. He was so proud of his family and loved them all dearly.

Changing careers in 1995, Rick joined Hensley Industries out of Dallas, Texas and loved it. Here he made lifetime friends with his co-workers.

In 2004, Richard and Gayle jumped into the acreage life building their forever home. This not only added more purpose to life but more chores too! He took pride in his accomplishments with the yard and when he wasn't working on his, he was helping neighbours. They both loved the quiet life, challenges and the outdoors. Richard was an avid chef and loved using fresh garden vegetables to enhance his dish. The music was always on when cooking or he was singing!

In 2007, Richard was diagnosed with an incurable disease:  pulmonary fibrosis...and took eight years to find a match for a double lung transplant. On September 25, 2015, he came through like the trooper he was!

Everyone loved him as he always helped out with a smile and a giggle. He touched everyone's lives, from his long-time friends, and neighbours, right down to the mail lady. He was a bright light always joking around and laughing. Live, Love, and Laugh was Richard’s motto.

This brought on retirement with a set of new guidelines, with his spare time he always managed to put in a game of golf. No germs on the golf course.

Richard is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gayle White, three children, Jill Hanke (Jason), Jeff White, and Kelsey White; two grandchildren, Tyson and Carter May; his big sister Norma White (Douglas), his little brother James White (Sandra), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
