Obituary of Kurt Johannes Armier

Kurt Armier, beloved husband of the late Eleanor Armier (nee Hanke) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the age of 93 years.

 

Kurt was born on February 10, 1931, in Bellinchen, Germany, to Kurt and Ilse Armier. Kurt immigrated to Canada in 1951, eventually ending up in Edmonton, AB. In 1956, he began his 40-year career at CP Rail working as a Machinist. In 1958, he married his late wife Eleanor (nee Hanke), and they had two loving children. In 1966, he and his family moved to Calgary, AB, where he resided for the remainder of his life. Kurt enjoyed camping trips with his family and traveling across the United States. After retirement, Kurt spent the majority of his time with his Grandson. Kurt spent his final days surrounded by family at the Rockyview General Hospital.

 

Kurt is survived by his sons, Mark Armier of Calgary, AB, and Kurt Jr. Armier of Bittern Lake, AB; grandson Ian Armier (Shelby) of Calgary, AB; he is also survived by one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law, and nieces and nephews. Kurt is predeceased by his loving wife Eleanor, parents Kurt and Ilse Armier, and sister Ilse Hase.

 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB ) on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
