Obituary of Mary Julia Yaniw

April 17, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Mary Yaniw of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the age of 81 years.
She was born on a farm closest to Aberdeen in rural Saskatchewan. She met and married Julian in 1963 and together they built their life, raising their family between Saskatoon and Calgary. Mary created our home—one that she was proud of. Her cooking talents included traditional Ukrainian cuisine for family and countless friends.
She was a loving wife whose bond of love celebrated 60 years together. She proudly was our Mom, Wife, and Baba. Julian and Mary celebrated life travelling to many world locations and cruising to see the hemispheres of this planet. In her career, she worked at Sears and Eaton’s department store.
Mary is survived by her husband Julian, daughter Simone Milne (James Burrows), son Zane (Rhonda), and her grandchildren, Jules Milne and Alexia Yaniw. She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Regush, her brother Victor (Adeline) Swidzinski, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, John and Ann Swidzinski; brother Walter Swidzinski, her in-laws, Peter and Anne Yaniw; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Carol Yaniw; and brother-in-law Bill Regush.
In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.
