April 18, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta
Nicholas Philip Hawrysh, proud husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 18, 2024, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 79 years.
His life began in Gimli, MB, in 1944 when he was born to Michael and Mary Hawrysh. He was one of six children to grow up on their parent’s farm before leaving to pursue higher education in Winnipeg, MB.
While attending university, he met Sharon Bright at a Social in Winnipeg and they happily wed in 1969. After graduating from the University of Manitoba as an Electrical Engineer, Nick and Sharon moved to Calgary, AB, in 1970, to start his career and soon after that, start a family.
Nick was a devoted and loving father to Trevor and Cherilyn, who dearly miss him and the life lessons he imparted to them. He took great pride in being a parent, especially coaching Trevor's sports teams, and was proud to see both his children marry and raise children of their own.
Throughout his life, Nick pursued his passion of technology and computers, while also enjoying his love of the outdoors and travelling. Nick walked many miles in Fish Creek Park near his Parkland home, communing with nature. There were many more miles logged while exploring and enjoying the sites of North America while travelling and camping in his RV with Sharon.
Nick was preceded in death by his older brother, Michael, and is survived by his wife Sharon, son Trevor, daughter-in-law Tamara, grandchildren, Nathan and Olivia; daughter Cher, son-in-law Morgan, granddaughter Emma, and his siblings, Eve, Mary Ann, Ernie, and Jane.
