Obituary of Katharina Maier

Katharina Maier (nee Wallner), beloved wife of the late Jakob Maier, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 91 years.
Born in Latschach, Karnten, Austria, on November 27, 1932, Katharina immigrated to Canada in 1959 to marry Jakob.
She took great pride in maintaining a wonderful home and cooking delicious Austrian meals for her family and friends. When her daughters were young, she volunteered as a Girl Guide leader and was a successful Avon Lady. When her daughters were older, she worked in retail, real estate, and volunteered as a Ski Friend at Lake Louise. She was a proud member of the Austrian Club, spending many happy years singing with the Austrian choir. Katharina also enjoyed gardening, knitting, and sewing.
Katharina is survived by her two daughters, Elisabeth and Kathryn; four grandsons, Ian, Eric, Karl, and Kurt; her brother Herbert (Lisi), sister-in-law Rosina, nephews, Kurt, Stephen, and Harrold; and her nieces, Gerlinda, Jacki, and Karin.
Katharina was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Jakob Maier, her father Leopold, her mother Katharina, her brother Franz, and her nephew Manfred.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Boniface German Catholic Church (1923 Broadview Road N.W., Calgary, AB) on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall of the Church.
