Obituary of Timothy Harry William Yorke
March 2, 1960 – Chatham, Ontario
April 19, 2024 – Cochrane, Alberta
Timothy “Tim” Yorke, beloved husband of Jennifer Yorke (nee Ewing), of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the age of 64 years.
Tim was the third of five children of Ron and Mary Yorke. He grew up in Ontario but later moved in his teenage years with his family to Regina, SK. It is here that he met Jennifer in 1976. After dating for four years, they were married in Regina in 1980. A move to Edmonton was short-lived and ultimately they made Calgary their permanent home.
Tim’s career path led him to excel in sales management roles in both the retail and telecom industries.
Tim will be lovingly remembered as Santa Tim by his numerous nieces and nephews, which was a role that brought him much joy over the years.
Tim volunteered his time working with at-risk youth in his early years. Later on, he made a significant impact while volunteering with Softball Calgary. His real passion came years later in 1995 when he was introduced to the sport of Kickboxing. He competed in a number of fight cards over the years and started officiating Kickboxing/Muay Thai later that year. He was named head official in Calgary a few years after that and created many of the policies still in effect today. As head official, he worked closely with the City of Calgary Combative Sports Department for all professional fights. Tim also participated in officiating in Panama and had the opportunity to teach some of the youth in nearby Picacho to kickbox. Tim and Jennifer were fortunate to travel to many locations over their years together. Panama was a favourite destination where they spent a significant amount of time. Tim contributed in numerous ways in the local village of Picacho, Panama. This brought him much joy and purpose, enriching his life.
Tim enjoyed the outdoors and remote off-road camping with his close friends. A favourite camping spot was the Waiparous/Ghost Lake area. Tim appreciated the beauty and solitude of the wild wolf and somehow felt a connection to them. He had a giving nature and was loyal and trustworthy to all who knew and loved him. His impact will not be forgotten.
Tim was a committed husband, brother, and friend to all who knew and loved him. He will always be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Jennifer. Tim is also survived by his siblings, Judy (Greg) Thrush, Gary (Jane) Yorke, Catherine (Bud) Abel, and Darcey Yorke; his mother-in-law Anne Ewing, brothers-in-law, Jim (Myrna) Ewing and Keith Silzer; and his sisters-in-law, Bonny (Russ) Rasmussen and Karen (Brock) Linnell.
Tim was predeceased by his parents, Ron and Mary Yorke; sisters-in-law, Brenda Ewing and Janice Silzer; and his great-nephew Kaiden Dafoe.
