Obituary of Lorilyn Domingo Mendoza

July 30, 1984 – Benito Soliven, Isabela, Philippines

April 22, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Lorilyn Mendoza (nee Baloran), of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the age of 39 years.

Lorilyn was born in Benito Soliven, Isabela, Philippines on July 30, 1984. She attended and graduated from Isabela State University San Mariano Campus Sta. Filomena, Philippines with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Food Technology. She then immigrated to Cochrane, AB, in 2014, and later, Lorilyn and Christopher Mendoza were married in 2017.

She accomplished much throughout her life and was particularly proud of all her achievements as a mother of two. She was a member of the Filipino Canadian Association of Cochrane, Alberta, and volunteered with them for numerous years.

Lorilyn’s most memorable vacation was when she returned to the Philippines to visit her hometown, a memory she cherished.

Her favourite quote was, “Strength grows in the moments when you think you can’t go on, but you keep going anyway.”

She will be most remembered for her love of family, whom she loved to be with.

Lorilyn is survived by her loving husband Christopher Mendoza, her sons, Liam Christian Mendoza (age 7) and Chris Lawrence Mendoza (age 3) of Cochrane, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in both Canada and the Philippines. Lorilyn was predeceased by her parents, Roberto Baloran and Remedios Baloran.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Mendoza’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
