Obituary of Kathleen Mullane

May 30, 1935 – New Market, New Brunswick

April 21, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Mary Kathleen Mullane, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the age of 88 years, just two weeks after her husband’s passing.

Born in New Market, NB and raised in New Glasgow, NS to Mary Edith and William Murphy, she graduated from St. Martha’s College, Antigonish with a nursing degree. She married the love of her life, Cyril Mullane. While working part-time she raised seven children. She was recognized as a Nurse of the Month in Alberta, where her volunteering was also honoured. She was an enthusiastic mom who could be easily heard from the stands cheering on her children. She played bridge, skied, bowled, and skated on her speed skates at the local rinks. She knit, sewed, and belonged to an investment club. She retired in 1992 to pursue winters in Mesa, AZ, to play golf and socialize with friends.

Kathleen is survived by her sister-in-law Claire Murphy, her seven children, Sean (Pam), Terry (Margaret), Tom (Sarah), Mary (Gerry), Kevin (Sandi), Erin (Alana), and Shannon (Rick); as well as nineteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brother Charles and her parents. She will also be fondly remembered by many friends, nieces, nephews, and former work associates.

She adored her family and brought determination, fun, and love in everything that she did. She cheered for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
