Obituary of Roland Charles Boutet
May 28, 1943 – Bonnyville, Alberta
April 28, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Roland (Rolly) Boutet of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the age of 80 years.
Rolly was born in Bonnyville, AB, to Marcel and Rose Boutet and was the older brother of Claude. He lived in Holyoke, AB, as a young boy and moved to Calgary in his teens with his family.
Rolly married Susan on September 18, 1965, starting their family in 1967 when they welcomed their daughter Teresa, followed by their son Kurtis in 1973. Rolly worked as a welder and millwright for Foothills Steel Foundry until he retired at 63. He was never short on stories or mischief; to call him a character is an understatement.
He had a passion for his family, hockey, and fishing. He spent 25 years volunteering as a hockey coach and flooding the outdoor rinks in Dover.
He loved to be out on the lake fishing; if you went with him, you knew it was going to be an all-day event. You would not have a fishing plug or lure as big as his.
Rolly was predeceased by his wife Susan, brother Claude, and his parents, Rose and Marcel.
He is survived by his daughter Teresa (Blair), his son Kurtis (Sheila), and four grandsons whom he loved dearly, Brandon, Ryan, Kolby, and Kaden.
Rolly will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Rolly’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
