Obituary of David Gordon LePage
March 4, 1948 – Medicine Hat, Alberta
May 3, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
David LePage of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the age of 76 years.
David attended the University of Calgary for one and half years before leaving to pursue his lifelong career as a Production Revenue Accountant in the Oil and Gas industry. His career took him through several companies, with the longest tenures being with Dome Petroleum and Mobil Oil. He joined the Air Cadets between the ages of fourteen to eighteen in Taber, AB.
David married Lynn Owen in 1972, and in the process, adopted his daughter Wendy, as well as later having four sons, Trevor, Ken, James, and Andy.
He was a man of very strong faith throughout his entire life and found his greatest joy and peace in being a faithful servant of God. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered with them. He took great enjoyment in all manners of ministry within the Catholic Church, having spent time as an altar boy, usher, lector, and Eucharistic Minister at various times.
David accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of his children. He enjoyed spending time laughing with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved going to movies and watching his grandchildren’s sports and activities. His favourite saying was, “It’s cheaper to keep your pictures”, but despite the jokes, he always treasured his time with his children and the extended family.
David’s most memorable vacations included his trip to Washington, DC, USA, in 1990 and when he went to visit his longtime friend Paul Bickert at Okanagan Lake with his children.
He will be most remembered for his kind heart and love of family.
David is survived by his daughter Wendy of Drumheller, AB, four sons and three daughters-in-law, Trevor (Therese) of Calgary, Ken of Calgary, James (Tanya), of Langdon, AB, Andrew (Victoria) of Calgary; ten grandchildren, Jordan (Jenna), Cayden, Keirah, Jordyn, Katey (Tyler), Robert (April), Aimee, Jasmine, Kayley, and Madeline; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Logan, London, Brooks, Davin, Josh, Mason, Aubrie, Presley, Parker, Charlie, Riker, Avery, and Ryan.
