August 2, 1935 – Barons, Alberta

May 4, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Lydia Shaddick was born in Barons, AB, on August 2, 1935, and passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the age of 88 years.

She graduated from Barons Consolidated School in 1953 and attended Secretarial College in Seattle, Washington, returning to Alberta in 1954. Lydia worked in Lethbridge until the fall of 1955 and then moved to Calgary, where she has resided since.

Lydia worked hard all her life for her family, and as a secretary for several insurance adjusters, Scotiabank, and Telus (AGT), later retiring in the year 2000, after twenty-seven years with the Calgary Board of Education as a library technician at Mayland Heights School. Lydia was dedicated to family and friends, always ready to offer assistance and guidance. She was a wonderful, loving, and caring mother, grandmother, and friend, who will be sadly missed by all who had the good fortune to have known her.

Lydia is survived by her sons, Martin (Jacqueline) and John (Grace), her granddaughter Crystal and grandson Ozzy, and her daughter-in-law Valerie. She was predeceased by her sons Steven (Katherine) and Chris. A special thanks to Gerald Stryker for being her long-time devoted and loving friend.
