Obituary of Bogdan Pawlak

June 12, 1953 - Wroclaw, Poland

May 4, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Bogdan Pawlak Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the age of 70 years, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bogdan Roman Pawlak was born in Wroclaw, Poland, in 1953. After completing his education in geology, he started a family with his wife Elizabeth and embarked to Canada in hopes of forging a better life.

His expertise and knowledge in his field, and his desire for professional independence led to him creating his own environmental company where he found great success for a number of years. During this time, he also found ways to indulge his inventor’s mind by creating and patenting numerous technologies in the environmental field.

In his later years, he devoted much of his energy to one of his greatest passions: sailing. Bogdan would spend months navigating his way through the waters of BC, often alongside family, friends, and of course, his first mate Bolek, a scrappy little Schnauzer who never left his side. There was nothing Bogdan loved more than sharing his love for all things nautical with those closest to him.

He is survived by his daughters, Alicja (Niall) and Agnieszka (Brendan), his two grandchildren, Rory and Theodore, and his dog Bolek.

His family misses him dearly but knows he is at peace and is no doubt watching over them while he sails through the timeless seas of the afterlife.

Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Bogdan's family here.
