Obituary of Lynda Patricia Legge

February 10, 1957 – Calgary, Alberta

May 7, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Lynda Patricia Legge, beloved wife of Gerry Legge, of Calgary, AB, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the age of 67 years.

Lynda was born in Calgary on February 10, 1957. She attended Bishop Carroll High School, and after, she studied recreational therapy at Mount Royal College, receiving her diploma in 1977.

Lynda worked a number of jobs in the succeeding years. She had been an accomplished Highland dancer in her youth and continued her interest in dance by also running her own Highland dance school during this time.

Lynda then went to work at Stampede Pontiac Buick in 1980. On her first day of work at Stampede, she was standing in the parts department, when out of the back strolled her then-unknown future husband, Gerry. Gerry had also attended Bishop Carroll, and although he did not know her at that time, he certainly recognized her from his high school days when he saw her standing there. The amiable fellow that he was, he immediately struck up a conversation to welcome her to Stampede. One thing then led to another, and within a fairly short period, they realized that they were soulmates and destined to be together forever.

Lynda and Gerry married in 1989 and moved into a comfortable house in Southwest Calgary, where they remain to this day.

After working many years in the automotive industry, Lynda decided that she wanted to become an entrepreneur. She started working in the ceramic business to learn the ropes, with the intention of ultimately setting up her own ceramic studio. Lynda discovered that she had an artistic knack for working with clay, and it was not long before she had her own business up, running and thriving. She produced significant numbers of pieces for sale, and also as gifts for members of her family and friends. Many of these pieces are in the homes of family and friends today and are treasured memories of Lynda.

Lynda and Gerry pursued a happy life of sharing things with one another and spending as much time as possible on the golf course.  Golf was a shared passion for them both. Much of the travelling that they did was centered around golf, and they had the opportunity to play together in numerous places throughout North America. They also had a fondness for warm weather, sandy beaches, and surf, and travelled as frequently as possible to Phoenix, Palm Springs, Hawaii, and Mexico where they could enjoy all of these things.

Besides her loving husband Gerry, Lynda is survived by two brothers, Grant (Patti) Henley of Red Deer and Dean (Colette) Henley of Calgary; and one sister Cathy (Wayne) Gray of Calgary. She is also survived by nine nieces and nephews and eight grandnieces and nephews. Lynda and Gerry took great pleasure in spending time with all of them and watching them all grow and thrive.
