May 10, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Carley Jayne James (nee Fossen), affectionately known as Carlos, passed away on the night of Friday, May 10, 2024, at the age of 38 years. Born on October 22, 1985, in Edmonton, AB, she spent her formative years in the B.C. lower mainland. In recent years, she returned to Calgary, AB, to put down roots and raise a family.
Carley wore many hats throughout her life, pursuing careers in make-up artistry, banking, and agriculture. She was also an avid baker, a gifted singer, and a film fanatic. However, it was in the joyous path of motherhood that she found her true calling. As a devoted mother, Carley cherished her role in raising her beautiful twins, Benjamin and Hazel.
Carley was a beloved partner to her husband, Mark James. Their life together was a testament to the strength and commitment they shared since meeting as part-time coworkers in a small Coquitlam movie theatre over twenty years ago. Their connection was immediate, and their love for one another compounded to bring them both immeasurable happiness up until her final moments with us.
Carley will forever be remembered for her infectious laughter and goofy nature. She had a caring heart that extended to everyone she encountered. Her loyalty to friends and family touched the lives of so many, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. Carley had an extraordinary ability to make others feel seen and loved, always going the extra mile to brighten someone's day. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her husband and children, Carley leaves behind her grandmother Elsie Fossen, her grieving parents, Rod and Val Fossen; her beloved brother Mark Fossen (Noha, Lucy, and Wesley), and many other extended family members for whom she cared deeply. Her memory will be cherished by her family and friends, who will forever hold her lighthearted spirit close.
