Obituary of Paul Rene Joseph Delorme
March 20, 1951 – Winnipeg, Manitoba
May 9, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Our beloved Paul Rene Joseph Delorme, devoted husband of Lorna Delorme, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, AB. Born in Winnipeg, MB, on March 20, 1951, Paul's life was a testament to love, gratitude for all he received, and living a life of simplicity.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Lorna Delorme, daughters Dana Delorme and Shae Jones (Ted); three adoring grandchildren, Carlin, Kaemon, and Layla; his brother Rick Delorme (Heather), sister-in-law Pat Gibson (Brian), brother-in-law Bob Wardell (Lisa), and many nieces and nephews.
Paul graduated from Red River College with a Business Degree. He was an incredibly intelligent man with a quick wit who was well-read on politics and world events, often engaging in lively debates. From the age of twenty-one, Paul dedicated his entire working career to the furniture industry. He was known as a true gentleman and a man of honesty and integrity, and he was highly respected in both his personal and professional lives.
Paul’s brilliance extended beyond his education; he was a gifted poet and a talented artist (though many would not have known this), leaving behind a legacy of insight. One of Paul’s greatest passions was music, and he loved inspiring that excitement and joy in others. He would happily play his favourite tunes and discuss the lyrics with any willing participant. Paul was a true Delorme and enjoyed playing cards as well as entertaining in their home. Delightfully, he and Lorna were able to spend several joyful years travelling with close friends. Paul was a man of deep faith, for whom prayer was a solace, and who also found God in the glorious Alberta mountains and the love of his family.
As we bid farewell to Paul, let us remember his endless music playlists, contagious laugh, love of a good time, integrity, and gentleness. Thank you to Paul for his courage through these last several months; you were an inspiration. Though he may be gone, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace and joy, precious Paul. Play a song for us, we will be following you, one day.
Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Foothills Medical Centre, who cared for Paul with compassion, upheld his dignity, and considered his quality of life in their decision-making. Your words of sympathy and appreciation of Paul’s gentle, “cute”, and humorous nature through this time have been a comfort to his family.
